Mastery

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

Painting reflections is a challenge. When they are done right, however, they make for a compelling piece of art. The only way to improve and gain mastery is, drum roll, practice. I have been spending a lot of time on nautical scenes lately, with a focus on reflections. People love boat scenes, so learning to tackle reflections is worth the effort.

Some watercolour artists that I admire, and who handle reflections beautifully are Dan Marshall, Dusan Djukaric, and Olga Gouskova. Olga, quite frankly, is AMAZING! Her reflections are just beautiful. Russians really have a handle on watercolour. Some amazing watercolour artists from that corner of the globe.

If you'd like to see a tutorial on how to paint reflections and beautiful rippling water, please let me know.
